More Minerals

I realize that I may have been a bit abrasive with in my last post, I don’t apologize for what I said or how I said it and I meant every word of it! With that being said, I tried another mineral make up this weekend and it wasn’t half bad for a powder period- “mineral” or traditional.
CoverGirl TruBlend Microminerals ingredients:
Talc, Mica, Avena Sativa Kernel Flour (Oat), Zinc Stearate, Calcium Silicate, Methylparaben, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Propylparaben, Quaternium 15, BHT, Isopropyl Myristate, Glycerin, May Contain: Iron Oxides, Yellow 5, Ultramarines, Titanium Dioxide
Hmm, doesn’t this look a little familiar? It’s the same as the Max Factor ColorGenius Bronzer Mineral Makeup that I reviewed last week minus the mineral oil and methylchloroisothiazolinone- the two ingredients that made a mockery of the whole mineral concept (which you know I find to be more marketing than science driven anyway). The point is, this is a pretty decent loose powder- if you are looking for a strictly mineral product then keep searching because “ain’t” it but if you just want a loose powder for under $15 that provides coverage – this may be something that you want to try.
Being a Chemist, I am an ingredient kind of girl- I read the label of every product that I try and decipher the label code. I see a product for what it is and avoid getting caught up in the marketing hype- they are out to sell and product and most consumers don’t know enough about the ingredients to be able to tell if they are functional or fantasy. Unless you eat, sleep and breathe this stuff- it’s impossible to consumers to know this information and please believe me when I say that there are many people out there who make money by helping consumers make the “right” choices but be warned- they are not chemists and while they do have a firm understanding and know the history of some ingredients- they don’t understand the full complexity of the chemicals on the molecular level and therefore can’t always identify the function of an ingredient by looking at the label.
I said of that just to say, that this blog is a tool to help you decipher functionality from fantasy (I like that- I think I’ll coin it:-) As I said time and time again, I’m here to give you the facts on ingredients, what they do in a product from the scientific side and what they have done for me personally (because I like to share my experiences with you). I’ll also through some celebrity stuff in here because I am almost ashamed to admit it but I will because we are all friends here- I love pop culture! I’ve rambled enough and have formulations to get out the door.
TTYL!
