Anti-Aging Linens, hmmm?
As I was sitting at the computer enjoying a nice warm bowl of apples and cinnamon oatmeal, I was perusing New York magazine’s beauty section when I stumbled across an interesting link “Can Sheets Make You Look Younger”. When I followed the link I was amazed (although I shouldn’t be) to find bedding infused with amino acids, copper peptides, essential oils and aloe for better skin and hair. Now essential oils works on the aromatherapy angle so I can see how a soothing blend can help you relax and get a better night’s sleep which can help your skin appear more radiant. On a personal note- during the winter, I soak a tissue in eucalyptus oil/menthol/camphor blend and stick it under my daughter’s pillow to clear up her nose so she can sleep better- it’s a bit different but I can understand that philosophy. (Pictured above is the SkinGlow Cuprone Copper Technology Pillow available at Bed Bath & Beyond)
- There are so many questions that come to mind when I see this, here are a few:
- What is the level of goodies in pillow?
- How can you preserve the integrity of the ingredients with the pillow being out in the open with no protection?
- If the pillows were “formulated” to hold onto the special ingredients, how does enough of the ingredients get into your skin to do any good?
- What happens when you wash the pillow?
These are just a few that came to mind but you get the point right? But wait, there is more! SkinGlow also has a comforter but in order to work it has to come in direct contact with the skin (so umm, at least your pajama budget can be eliminated). SkinGlow’s copper technology claims to be a natural deodorant to eliminated odor causing bacteria (so this may be more for those with BO issues) but they say that it could also help rejuvenate the skin. Does it work? In my opinion, your money can be best spent somewhere else. Aja Mangum did the original post at NYmag and here is her assessment, “The hospital-esque peach-colored case didn’t match our existing bed set and felt a bit stiff. And despite the countless hours we used it, our mug looked exactly the same. Shocking. Now, go get a nice cotton set with a lovely thread count.”- I’m with you on this one Aja!
