Korres Pomegranate Cleansing & DeMake Up Wipes

I may have been less than thrilled with some of the new ingredients at Suppliers Day yesterday, but last night I was thoroughly impressed with Korres Pomegranate Cleansing & DeMake Up Wipes! I take any opportunity that comes my way to go on full glam mode–and what better venue than a beauty trade show??? It was such a long day and evening–you would be surprised how much energy it takes to schmooze for 4 straight hours, go home get dinner ready for the family and then head back out for another 4 hour schmooze session! Can I tell you that after 8 hours of hamming it up and 1 starburst cocktail (oh so yummy especially for this non-drinker)- I just wanted to jump in bed skipping all of the bedtime preliminaries? I knew that couldn’t happen because I was fully made-up so I went right to my beauty trove and spotted a little brown bag with a cranberry (or more accurate pomegranate) label and gave it a try.
WOW! These wipes literally took off all of my makeup- most of it using just one wipe! I used a second wipe and there was only a little bit of leftovers- they were such a time saver. Now there was a residue (the emollients) left behind on my skin and I am very anal about keeping my pores clean I so followed up with an exfoliating cleanser.
Science Behind It:
This wipe contains a very thin emulsion- similar to that of a regular face lotion. The advantage of an emulsion like this is that the emulsifiers used to keep the lotion stable is the key to removing the dirt, grime and makeup effectively. It emulsifies the oils in your skin and makeup, loosening them up, allowing them to be easily wiped off. They did not use any surfactants (detergents) in their lotion to help with cleansing which could also be why there was a residue left on my skin. It’s like putting a watered down lotion on a cotton pad and wiping your face with it- it’s going to leave the emollients behind. I personally am opposed to residue so it’s not a great facial wash for me–but it saved me so much time removing my makeup–it is a must have in my book!
