The Nose More Powerful than the Eye- Ageless Anti-Age Perfume

Let me ask you a question. If you look 50 years old and you put on this perfume then went sashaying into a room full of men- what would happen? Would they smell the perfume first and think, “oh here comes a young thang- time to get my mack on,” and look past you waiting for the young thang to arrive? Or would they smell the perfume first and think, “oh here comes a young thang- time to get my mack on,” and be tricked by their olfactory senses into thinking that you are really 40 years old and start pushing up on you? I’m more inclined to go with the first scenario!
I get the whole aromatherapy thing, but come on people, this is why my industry gets such a bad wrap! Don’t get me wrong, I do believe that there is an “old people smell” and I am all for anything that helps you feel young but to make the claim that it makes you smell younger- come on now… Ok, so this group of men in the “panel” thought the women who wore the perfume were on average 8 years younger than they really were, so how old were the women who wore the perfume? Were they 80 years old and the men thought they were 72? Big deal! Now if they were 40 years old and the men thought they were 32 years old- now that’s saying something, but let me ask you this- did these same women go perfume-free in front of another group of men? How old did the men who were not exposed to the power of the age-defying fragrance think these women were?
I’m a chemist and my very nature is skepticism! I do believe in many of the anti-aging ingredients because they come straight from the pharmaceutical industry and have been scientifically tested with proper controls….
Science Behind It:
This product is all about the “juice” (industry term for fragrance)! The manufacturers of this product have come up with a juice that either masks or neutralizes an odor that our bodies emit as we age. In 2001, a scientist by the name of Shinichiro Haze published an article in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology which detected an odor (2-nonenal) resulting from a chemical breakdown of omega-7 fatty acids. This “greasy or grassy” odor was only detected in those 40 years old and above. The study also showed that the fatty acid content in skin lipids (oil) increases along with the enzymes that breakdown the oil (which produces 2-nonenal).
Bottom line, in order to reduce or eliminate the off odor of 2-nonenal AKA “old people funk” is to stop the chemical breakdown from happening by using antioxidants that prevent lipid peroxidation and using fragrant ingredients that neutralize aldehyde odors (2-nonenal belongs to the aldehyde chemical family). That is the approach that Ageless is taking for $120! My only question is at what age is this the most effective and at that age- does it really matter? Also keep in mind that the oil content on your skin can be affected by your diet so maybe all it takes is staying away from certain foods…

Antioxidants truly have various benefits. I learned something new that antioxidants also prevent excessive oil production. Thanks for the info!
