Market America Appeal

Hi B. spot!
Did you ever have one of those days where you feel so inspired that it’s overwhelming? I have been feeling this way for past week and if I don’t act on it, then the feeling and opportunity to do something great will pass. Remember earlier in the week I wrote a post about my many hats? That’s the day I went to Greensboro, North Carolina and had a life changing experience; it was there where I first really learned about Market America. I have a cousin who sent me an email introducing me to her “store” and I pacified her by going to her online portal to check it out but that was the full extent of it.
I don’t plan to start my own Market America “Unfranchise” because that is not my thing- but in this economy it’s not such a bad idea to expand your horizons and find ways to supplement your income. After talking to one of the executive VPs, I don’t think they realize that the rest of America is in a recession (that’s a good thing:-)! Anyway, as I saying my inspiration comes from the story of JR and Loren Ridinger (Loren is uber fab people- just in case you didn’t know) the founders and principles of Market America. The beginning of their story is just like many of our own- all they had was a dollar and a dream! But, instead of getting caught up in a daily rut of getting up everyday to go to a joyless job- they broke the cycle and took a leap of faith to start their own business. What I love the most about their story is that they struggled for the first few years and almost gave up several times but their overall dream was bigger than their situation and they kept their eyes on that dream. Fast forward about 15 years later and they are very successful. The moral of this story is keep your eyes on the prize no matter what ups and downs may come your way. The lower fall means the higher that you will rise if you persevere. Isn’t that a wonderful and encouraging story!
I find it especially comforting because my business is being affected by the recession but I know that we will grow and become greater than I can ever imagine. Look, I am a optimist but also realistic and practical so I know that a business fairy is not going to come and wave “much success” dust over my building. It’s going to take hard work, sleepless nights, strategic partnerships and the Blessings of God for it to be what I want it to be and I am soooooo excited because I already know that I will be on the mountaintops as long as I don’t get stuck in the valley’s. My faith is so strong that I already see it now- it’s just a matter of taking the steps to get there. It’s not impossible! It’s doable for those who already have existing businesses, think about what other services you can offer to make your company more versatile during these trying times- what strategic partnerships will give your business a boost? For those who want to start a business but you’re afraid of failing- look, there are no guarantees in this life and if you ask any successful person they will tell you that it’s not if they ever failed but how many times before they got it right. Have a solid plan and don’t put all of your eggs in one basket- even if you start out working with Market America (if that’s your thing) to supplement your income and become less dependant on your joyless job- do something, take the first step!
One last thing before I go, everyone has a different idea of success. Success for you may be having the financial freedom to do/acquire more things or to have flexibility to spend more time with your family. Don’t get caught up in someone’s idea of a success- if you’re happy doing something that you love and can easily provide for and spend quality time your family creating precious memories then I have to admit- that sounds like a success to me.
I am soooo amped!

Hi Ni’Kita,
I just found this blog of yours and its very intersting. Tonight, I just think I realized I want to do something in chemistry in cosmetics and was trying to look up stuff about it. I am in my second year of college and want to finish with a major in chemistry. I was just wondering, how do you get to where you are at with your job?

Hi Ashley,
I have a BS in Chemistry from Montclair State University. I went into forensics right after college- that career path lasted all of 10 months! I sent out my resume to Cosmetech Laboratories and they hired me. I didn’t set out to become a cosmetic chemist, I was blessed enough to walk into it. However, there is a practical approach to becoming a cosmetic chemist. Check out my upcoming post “So You Want to be A Cosmetic Chemist” for more information.
Thanks for checking out the B. spot!
