Collective Wellbeing

I am always excited to try new blemish control products because unfortunately that is my issue. So when Collective Wellbeing asked me to review their line- I jumped on it. This brand is definitely geared toward the “save our mother earth” crowd (we should all be members). They donate a portion of their profits to “1% for the planet” and are members of Carbon Neutral Enterprise and Chicago Climate Exchange. I haven’t looked these organizations up yet so do your due diligence before you become to enamored with their dedication.
Anyhoo, I actually really like the Clean Change Gentle Facial Cleanser. The fragrance is a bit off to me- it kind of reminds me of this detox tea that I used to drink (the kind that you have to wait until it cools so you can hold your nose and pour it directly to back of throat so it doesn’t hit any taste buds) but the foam and texture are great. It contains 2% salicylic acid- the highest level allowed by the FDA for an acne product. Another good thing is that the fragrance are essential oils and it doesn’t linger.
My other favorite from this line is the Spot Control Medicated Acne Spot Treat with 2% salicylic acid. Now to be honest, I didn’t use their Change for a Day Oil-Absorbing Hydrating Emulsion because it doesn’t contain any acne medication and the salicylic acid from the cleanser is not sufficient to really treat. I could have lived with it not being an acne product if it contained sunscreen because you cannot make both and acne drug and SPF claim on the same product; since it didn’t have either, I didn’t really see a need for it- at first! What I ended up doing was using the spot treatment as a facial serum because it had a lot of slip and a little could cover my face and then I used the Oil Control lotion on top. That seemed to do the trick but then I still had to put a sunscreen moisturizer on top.
Change for a Night Oil Free Emulsion has 4% sulfur to dry out existing acne and help prevent new acne formation. This product is more like a mask so don’t expect for it to rub in and absorb like a moisturizer. You can rub it in just enough so that you won’t scare the kids when you tuck them in or repulse your husband when you slip under the covers! Wash it off in the morning and you will be good to go!
Overall, it’s a nice kit, you just have to play around with it to get what you need out of it. Hey, you get to act like a chemist and customize it to fit your needs- pretty cool, huh?
