Celeb Power to Save Water with a Body Lotion and Cool Label

Morning B. spot,
What do the Parsons New School of Design, Adrian Grenier, Erykah Badu, and Kelly Slater have in common? I can’t think of a single instance in which I would use their names in the same sentence! Kiehl’s however, thought the quartet would be perfect companions to collaborate with and create a Limited Edition Label Art series for their Superbly Restorative Argan Body Lotion. As part of their Kiehl’s Gives Back campaign the institution, the actor, the singer and the athlete each had their input on label design of the limited edition series; 100% of the (net) proceeds will go to the Waterkeeper Alliance, a grassroots organization dedicated to keeping waterways clean and usable.
Although it may seem a bit random, each of these designers have “green” hearts in their own way and already have either established a charity or are active participants of charities to help children, raise environmental awareness and other social issues.
The individual lotions retail for $55- let’s not forget that you are not only paying for a label designed by your favorite celeb but you are also getting a great product! If you haven’t heard about the benefits of argan oil then please tell me where in the world have you been all of this time? Never mind, allow me to bring you up to date!
Science Behind It:
The argan tree is native to South Morocco. This tree can live up to 200 years and produces fruit with 1 to three seeds. Its from these seeds that the argan oil is extracted by the Moroccan women and used for cooking and their ancestral beauty rituals.
Thanks to its high concentration of unsaturated fatty acids, argan oil helps in the restoration of the hydrolipidic film on our skin.
hydrolipidic film: the protective film composed of sweat, sebum and oil on our skin that has all the properties required to prevent non-resident bacteria from developing and maintains our skin’s barrier.
Linoleic acid, which is one of the omega 6 fatty acids is a precursor to vitamin F. It’s concentration is three times higher than olive oil! As an essential fatty acid it has a key role in preserving the integrity of our skin cells. The high content of natural tocopherols (vitamin E) gives excellent free radical protection and helps against peroxidation (hey, maybe this is what you need to help with the old people smell that I talked about in my post last week about the anti-aging fragrance- just a thought).
When applied to your skin, argan oil penetrates quickly without turning you into an oil slick; it also leaves your skin soft and silky (very caressable)!
Later!
