Ecocert Certified Skin Care
Just to continue on the ”natural” path that i am on, I wanted to highlight a couple of companies that have Ecocert or NPA certified products. In case I didn’t say this before, let me say it now, I don’t believe that natural skin care is safer for you than skin care products made with synthetics. If you fear that synthetic ingredients can be absorbed into your skin and load your body with toxins- why wouldn’t natural ingredients do the same thing? Lotus flower sounds pretty but it is just as foreign inside your body as octyl palmitate…sorry, I digressed…let me get back to my original post about natural cosmetics…
CARE by Stella McCartney is a line that is certified natural by Ecocert. It’s a complete line that consists of cleansers, antiaging and brightening elixirs and toners. The 5 benefits Moisturizing Cream is a liquid crystal emulsion. What does that mean? The organization of the oil and water in the emulsion are oriented more like a crystalline structure but it flows like a liquid and it’s similar to the oil and water organization in the stratum corneum (the upper layer of skin). You can consider it to be like a “second” layer of skin for added moisturization and barrier protection. It also contains blends of natural oils that have traditional uses in skin care for improving moisturization by reinforcing the lipids on your skin.
Aubrey Organics is one of the pioneers of the National Products Association and has products certified by the German company BDIH. It’s easier to say what products they don’t have instead of trying to name what they do! Pretty much all of your skin and hair care needs can be met with their selection. I’m not saying that they are the best for you or that you will be pleased with the results but I am letting you know that they have certified natural products if that is what you seek.
Ok, I have to say that there are many in this industry who feed on the fears of consumers. My stance on issues are always the same, make your decisions based on facts not fears. If you choose to use natural products because you feel that they are better for your skin- not your body- then just know that even natural products contain “chemicals” (I never understood that terminology- as they are all chemicals. I take it to mean ingredients that have undergone some type of chemical reaction…). There are no: glyceryl stearate trees, octyl palmitate plants (unless you mean the factory variety), vegetable emulsifying wax flowers, you get my point right???
Just know what your natural standards are vs the natural standards of the skin care manufacturers- do they line up? Are your standards a bit higher?
