Spa Fun with Candy Bars- Dylan Candy Bars!
So my 6 year old daughter is destined to be a chemist and aesthetician (perhaps world renowned- hey, aim for the stars:o) Both “Santa” and my sister bought her spa sets (yes, she is 6 years old and knows the importance of “spa”ing regularly). The sets contained bath fizzies, colorful scrubs, bubble baths, shower gels and body creams. She loved them both especially the Dylan’s Candy Bar selections. I have to admit that I had fun with these products too! Anyhoo, I was the recipient of an original Tiffany Hand Treatment that involved a cleansing massage with the “Birthday Cake Batter” Soda Pop Shower Gel, then the “Ice Cream” Sugar Scrub followed up with the a mixture of the soda pop shower gel and bath salts (courtesy of Mrs. Fields Cookies Bath Spa Set). ***Sidebar-At this point my hands were a bit raw from the sugar then salt scrub but she was being inventive and took pride in her work- who was I to discourage her love of mixing things up and pampering her mommy?!?!?***
During my bathside spa treatment (didn’t I mention that she was taking her bath?), I couldn’t help but enjoy the playful packaging of Dylan’s Candy Bar Re-Treat products. It was so fun to use that I couldn’t wait for my daughter’s bath to be over so I could play with the products by myself!
To be honest, the innovation is all in the concept and packaging. If the formulations were packaged in “traditional” spa packaging I don’t think that I would have purchased them; from a cosmetic chemist’s perspective, the formulas are rather ordinary. However, the ”Body Smoothie Lotion” and “Butter Cream” did feel good and were nice stable emulsions. If you like products using natural emollients then you would love these (with the exception of dimethicone).
