Q. What’s the deal with eyelash enhancers? Do they really work and are they safe?
- A. Latisse is a prescription product (which consists of prostaglandins) just approved by the FDA that has been demonstrated to increase the length, thickness and darkness of the eyelashes after using it for 8 weeks. Safety has been demonstrated but some individuals experienced eye irritation and redness.
Q. Are there really vitamins that will make your hair grow faster/fuller/thicker?
- A. There is no scientific evidence that specific vitamins will make hair grow faster, fuller or thicker. However, a healthy diet and a multiple vitamin daily will allow your body to have the necessary building blocks to produce healthy hair.
Q. What will falling asleep in makeup really do to my skin?
- A. Your pores may become plugged with debris from old makeup which may lead to acne outbreaks, skin irritation or redness.
Q. What’s a good gauge/milestone as to when young girls/teens should begin to up the ante on their skin care routine?
- A. When young girls reach puberty or begin to experience facial acne.
Q. Is it really necessary to change your skin care products after a while? Does your skin really get “used” to the same products and become ineffective?
- A. Well, I look at it a different way. Our skin changes depending upon the season as well as hormonal changes. Therefore, produces that are effective in the summer may not be effective in the fall or winter and should be changed.
