Dawn Richard of Danity Kane Dishes her Mane Ideas
Not many of us have seen Dawn’s natural hair because she keeps it hidden and protected! However, Dawn is quite proud of how healthy her natural hair is and shared her routine with me! Dawn’s hair is long (middle of her bra strap) and thick but it wasn’t an overnight process. “I am so proud of my hair and can’t wait to show it off,” said Dawn. Dawn described her process in detail- here it is:
- Pretreat your hair for about two hours with either Ojon Tawaka Ancient Tribal Rejuvenating Cream
- Gently comb out tangles (preferrably under running water)
- Shampoo with Ojon Ultra Hydrating Shampoo
- Before blow drying, use a little bit of Lisa’s Hair Elixir
- Blow dry and style
FYI, Dawn uses Healthy Hair Butter to keep her hair manageable!
Science Behind it:
Ojon Tawaka Ancient Tribal Rejuvenating Cream contains the same palm oil used in the Restorative Hair Treatment (previously reviewed) and cocoa butter. Palm oil penetrates your hair shaft and allows your hair to retain oil during the washing process- this means that your hair will not be dry and brittle after washing but soft and moisturized. Sitting under a heating cap will cause the cuticles on your hair shaft to lift facilitating the penetration of the oil so you will not have to leave it on as long. You may experience sticker shock because it has a hefty price of $65 but here’s the good news- it’s not just for hair! Because it functions more as an oil treatment than conditioner, it is also used as a body cream so you are getting two products for the price of one!
