Blog Round Up the B. spot way…
Here are some of the products that my fellow beauty bloggers deemed worthy enough to call out!
Beauty Junkies Unite reviewed a great kit called Kinara Red Carpet Facial Kit (why does the name make it essential for me to try?!?!) based on a real spa treatment from Kinara Spa. The kit contains a peel, neutralizer and mask to give a red carpet ready glow. All I can say is I’m ready for my close up!
Science Behind It:
The peel is based on lactic and malic acid (AHA’s) for exfoliation. I noticed that it also contains arginine which says to me that they are using a special lactic acid blend formulated to be less irritating. They also have allantoin to further reduce irritation or inflammation. The neutralizer has sodium bicarbonate to raise the pH of your skin after the low pH peel. It contains additional allantoin and aloe to calm your skin. The mask contains zinc oxide that can help soothe irritated skin; it’s loaded with antioxidants to quench free radicals that can wreck havoc on your skin.
Allure Daily Beauty Reporter gave great tips how to heal dry hands (this post is right on time considering the 5 degree temperatures I have been subjected to the past couple of days). One of the featured products was Laboratoire Remede Biobright Hand Cream. It’s a double feature cream because it doesn’t only moisturize but helps brighten up hands.
Science Behind It:
The biggest moisture enhancing performers in this cream are hyaluronic acid and biosaccharide gum-1. Hyaluronic acid works like a sponge and absorbs water from the atmosphere and holds it in place on the surface of your skin. Biosaccharide gum-1 forms a film on your skin that holds onto water and hydrates the stratum corneum over a long period of time. The cream also contain shea butter for added moisture.
The cream contains a blend of extracts for skin brightening but, in my opinion, the skin brightening is coming from the alpha-arbutin. Arbutin is commonly used in skin brightening creams in place of hydroquinone. It works by breaking down over time when applied to your skin- one of the resulting components is hydroquinone!
