Hawaiian Deep Seawater, Blue Algae, essential oils– these are the main ingredients that make up Blue Algae Enriched Firming Cream courtesty of grassroots. The Blue Algae cream has the texture of a gel-cream and feels heavier than you would expect it to. That is a plus for dry skin peeps and if you just washed your face with an exfoliating (physical or chemical) cleanser. What makes this cream firming and what in the world does Hawaiian seawater have to do with anything? I have actually formulated with a couple of the firming ingredients- algae to be more specific- used in this product, chlorella vulgaris extract and spirulina maxima extract. Both are rich in amino acids and have data that show their ability to stimulate collagen production and elastin synthesis. Regarding the Hawaiian water, like most volcanic waters it contains more trace minerals than non volcanic water. Certain trace minerals such as zinc and calcium are beneficial to your skin because they can reinforce the mineral content necessary for some of the biological processes like cell division and energy uptake of the cells.
