Dr. Susan Taylor answers questions about anti-aging, hair growth and skin brightening
Q. Is there anyway (or any products) that can reduce moles (or the appearance of moles) without surgery?
A. Unfortunately there are no creams, lotions or other products that reduce moles or their appearance.
Q. I have been using skin lighteners to reduce dark marks but they are not working- what am I doing wrong or what else can I do without spending a lot of money at a doctor’s office?
A. First it is important to determine if you have used the skin lightener properly. In general, twice a day application for 2 – 3 months is required to see a difference. Also, the use of sunscreen each and every day is important to prevent the sun from make the dark marks darker. If you have followed the directions and you still have not seen a difference, I would recommend seeing a dermatologist.
Q. Do anti-aging products work on skin of color or do we require different (more potent) products to firm up our skin and remove our wrinkles?
A. This is a hard one because skin of color ages differently from Caucasian skin so our needs may be different. If, however, you have fine wrinkles and crows feet, then the same anti-aging products will be helpful.
Q. Does stimulating the scalp really help your hair grow?
A. There is no data or research that supports the notion that scalp stimulation helps the hair to grow.
