Does Your Betty Really Need a Makeover?

Posted December 1, 2008 by admin

Okay Ladies (and Gents), I am not one to kiss and tell so I certainly won’t disclose anything too personal, however I will share this product with all of you whose Betty may need a little cosmetic restoration.  At first glance different people may experience several reactions but after the initial feelings pass most end up extremely curious!  Why bother with Betty? She’s not the first thing that people notice to give away your age so what’s the point?  It’s one of those personal decisions that, unless you are going through it, you won’t understand.  When the rest of you defies your age and the only thing standing in the way of you and your mental age are those annoying gray hairs.  You pluck one and three more grow back in it’s place. It becomes a personal hell as they taunt you, whispering to you over and over again saying things like “this is not the Betty of a 20-something” , “you’re not fooling anyone with this old gray Betty” or “you’re a natural blonde, huh”.  You try to ignore it telling yourself that it’s a sign of wisdom and distinction or when the lights are off no one can see it anyway.  But the thought of your graying, lie busting Betty is eating you up inside and you just can’t take it anymore!  Fine, I’ll admit that I’m feeling a bit Y&R (Young & the Restless in other words very dramatic) today but there had to be a great need out there for someone to develop this product, right?  A need that we secretly desired but never had the guts to talk about in the open?  Well good for you Betty Beauty for having the courage and sense of humor to launch this product!  There is a color for everyone, Brown Betty, Black Betty, Blonde Betty, Red Betty, Fun Betty (Pink), Auburn, Betty, Malibu Betty (Blue) and just in time for the holidays- Green Betty!!!!

Science behind it:  Since the area down below is rather sensitive, Betty products were made without ammonia which is used in traditional permanent hair dyes to allow the color to penetrate the hair shaft by lifting up the cuticle.  This is not a permanent dye so expect to reapply every 3-4 weeks.  Pigment is deposited onto the outside of the hairshafts and hydrogen peroxide is used to help break down the bonds holding together the melanin (pigments that give your hair its color) allowing the new color to “show” and slightly lifts the cuticles for a bit of the color to seep into the hair shaft.

It is also formulated with many botanicals to reduce the chance of irritation.

Hooray to the Betty color, I too ‘tried” to convince myself grays’ were a sign of wisdom. Ha!

    A couple of questions:

    1. Does it stain?
    2. Will it soften, grays can be wiry.
    3. Where can it be purchased?

    Thanks for sharing!

    Hi Halimah,

    1) It should come off with warm soapy water; for best success the sooner you remove it the better!

    2) As if being gray wasn’t bad enough, the texture changes too! It will soften them a bit but nothing miraculous if they are really wiry.

    3) http://WWW.bettybeauty.com is currently offering free shipping; the cost ia $14.99 or $12.99 when you purchase 2 or more kits (Christmas is coming- try one half red and the other green;-). You can also buy it on drugstore.com.
